Lathlehele

Lathlehele turned 13 in June 2015. This photo with her friend Nelson (12) was taken just before her birthday. The occasion was a concert where the British Corps of Army Music brass quintet played for the children.. the two children are between a Tuba and a Euphonium.

Lathlehele is turning 12 in 2014. And she's trying tissue expansion yet again. Good luck…

Lathlehele, pictured here with her friend Nelson, had glasses for the first time in her life, in October 2012. Her tissue expander was ready to be removed but she was impatiently awaiting a date.

Lathlehele was born on 23rd June 2002. The eight year old girl is an orphan. Her mother is dead, her father is unknown. She has an older sister aged 20 who has not completed her schooling and whose lifespan is likely to be short. Lathlehele's sister is already ill. Lathlehele also has a brother aged 16.

They had no income and survived only on occasional food parcels.

Lathlehele was brought to us by an auxiliary social worker. She had had a fever for ten days and no one had done anything about it.

Her temperature was high, her appetite low, and she had a rash.

She is likely to join Children of Fire as soon as a doctor has declared her fit.

The child is in need not only of surgery but also a safe caring and nurturing environment.

Lathlehele is a good candidate for tissue expansion to ease the burns alopecia at the back of her head.

Lathlehele's feet are burned but not badly enough to justify surgery.
