Gamuchirai Vanessa Gohodza

Gamuchirai Vanessa Gohodza was born on 18th February 1998 in Zimbabwe. Her life was fairly uneventful until she was burned in an intentional fire near Harare.
In May 2014 a charity called Tairo House of Hope asked if Children of Fire could assist Gamuchirai.
Another organisation called Justice for Children Trust agreed to assist with paperwork for Gamuchirai and her younger cousin Melissa who was also burned in the same fire.
Both the children needed to get or to renew identification documents and then to get passports and visas. As they were orphaned, they also had to establish who would be their guardians.
Julia Zvobgo wrote on 28th May 2014: "The case went into court last week, and the perpetrator is still in custody. The children were called to provide evidence in court but because there was a huge crowd that came to the High Court, so the issue was then referred to Rotten Row (Harare Magistrate Court) where it was deferred for hearing at a later date yet to be advised.
"Last year Gamuchirai had a skin graft that fell off."
The maternal uncle (and his wife) are taking care of and have custody of burns survivor Melissa and her sister Ruvimbo so they might also become the legal guardians of Gamuchirai as the uncle is the common relative between both girls who need to travel and "he has their best interest at heart".
In mid 2014 in Zimbabwe an ordinary passport cost at least $50 USD and takes about 4-6 weeks to produce; an urgent passport takes three working days which is $250
